Ignorance Is Not A Virtue

When President Obama said that Ignorance is not a virtue, I nearly died and went to Heaven.  I don't think you need to be lawyer to know the law or to know that ignorance is not innocence.  Many a person is convicted whether or not they can recite the law that has been violated.  This is likely because ignorance fails to excuse someone's ability to know right from wrong.  "Any reasonable person" should know enough to keep themselves out of trouble. Unfortunately, this is a necessary prerequisite for any democracy and I believe why certain crimes allow for a trial with a jury of one's peers.  The peers establish what is reasonable or allow for protection.  Far from innocence, ignorance is more like Sloth, one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
